Screening and initial selection of articles (Research Policy)

Screening and initial selection of articles is done in 2 to 3 days by the Editor-Chief of the journal. Then, the article sent to a specialized editor and he/she can select the appoints a reviewers. The reviewers must review the article within 24 days and send their comments to the specialized editor. The editor reviews the Reviewer's comments and sends them to the Editor-in-Chief.

General Information

Jurnal Gizi dan Kesehatan Keluarga is an international, peer-reviewed and open-access journal. The Journal accepts mini- and full-length review articles, original research articles (in all experimental and theoretical aspect of Health and Nutrition Research) of written in English. The main purpose is to provide researchers worldwide free online access to high-quality articles of outstanding scientific significance. Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript, and should not be submitted by anyone on their behalf. The decision to accept a contribution rests with the Editorial Committee of the Jurnal Gizi dan Kesehatan Keluarga.

Original Research

Articles included into this category are research reports or empirical research papers with a suggested word length of 3,500 – 5,000 excluding tables and figures. Original research articles should follow the systematics below:

  • Title – The title should be ‘catchy’ but not diverting the main message of the article. We suggest authors to avoid titles which identify the institution where the research was undertaken.
  • Abstract - The length of the abstract should be 200-300 words. Background: the background and rationale of the study. Aims: aims and objectives of the study. Methods: methodology of the study. Results: the highlights of study’s results. Conclusion: a short conclusion and recommendation. Keywords: please write 3-6 keywords related to this study.
  • Key Messages – Write 2-5 key messages related to this study. Key messages may relate to applicability, novelty, and/or impact of the research.
  • Introduction – The introduction should discuss the background of the research, the rationale and the research questions and/or aims. In this section, the current evidence on the topic should be discussed to subsequently be related to the research gap which would be addressed by the research.
  • Methods - This section should include the research design applied, context, subject and sampling, data collection tools, data analysis and the steps of the research.
  • Results, Results may be presented using tables, charts/figures/flowcharts or transcripts.
  • Discussion, Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and of the working hypotheses.
  • Conclusion – Authors are expected to provide a brief conclusion to recap the information in the previous sections. Authors are suggested to provide recommendation for further practice and research based on the current research.
  • Funding: Please add: “This research received no external funding” or “This research was funded by NAME OF FUNDER, grant number XXX” and “The APC was funded by XXX
  • Competing interests - Authors should declare any competing or possible conflict of interest regarding to the article. Available funding donors should also be declared
  • Acknowledgements (if any)
  • Conflicts of Interest: Declare conflicts of interest or state “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
  • References – The amount of literature cited should be sound but reasonable and it is expected that 80% of them are current literature of the last 10 years. Please use Vancouver citation style (Mendeley or Zotero).
