Author Guidelines

The Jurnal Gizi dan Kesehatan Keluarga (JGKK) is a scientific journal that publishes research articles on various aspects of nutritional science and family health. These articles cover topics such as the biochemical aspects of Food Product Development, Individual Nutrition and Family Health (Adolescents, Pregnant Women, Infants, Toddlers, Breastfeeding Mothers, Adult Nutrition, and the Elderly), and Community Nutrition and Policy. The journal only accepts articles that have not been previously published or are not currently under review in other scientific journals. All articles must be original works and free from plagiarism.

General Instructions

Articles should be structured in the following format: Title, Author and Institution (including correspondence address), Abstract, Keywords, Introduction (Background and Aim), Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

Manuscripts should be formatted in MS-Word using a Cambria font size 12, with a left margin of 2.5 cm and right, top, and bottom margins of 2.5 cm each. The maximum length of the manuscript should not exceed 12 pages with 1.15 line spacing. No attachments are necessary. Line numbers should be assigned to manuscripts in the left margin, starting from the title and continuing to the references. Manuscripts are to be submitted in both hard copy and digital format, written in English. Figures should be sent in JPEG file format.

For research involving humans or surveys, the correct term to use is "subject," not sample, example, or respondent. However, for laboratory-related research, the term "sample" should be used.

TITLE PAGE

  • Title. The article title should contain important and engaging keywords (variables) and does not necessarily need to match the title of the final report or thesis. It is recommended to avoid using the terms "study," "effect," "correlation/association," and "analysis." The title should consist of 10-15 words, written in all capital letters. Please provide a concise and descriptive title of 6-8 words for the page header (running title).

  • Authors. This section should include the full name of the author (without titles), the institution/affiliation, and contact information such as the correspondence address and email of the corresponding author.

  • Abstract. The abstract should contain a brief description of the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions in a single paragraph. It must be written in English, with a maximum word limit of 300 words. Abstracts should be formatted with single spacing and include keywords that accurately represent the content of the article. Keywords should consist of 3-5 words and be arranged in alphabetical order.

MAIN TEXT

  • Introduction. This section consists of the background and research objectives, written in separate paragraphs. The background should provide the rationale for conducting the research, supported by recent studies (state of the art) from both domestic and international journals as primary reference sources.

  • Method. This section should include subsections on the study design, location, and time; sample size and recruitment methods for subjects (surveys) or materials and tools (laboratory); data collection type and method (surveys) or research stages (laboratory); and data processing and analysis.

  • Results and Discussion. These two sections are written as one. The Results present the various characteristics of the subject/sample and the main research findings. The Discussion involves in-depth analysis that connects and compares the research results with theories/concepts/findings from other studies, based on primary references. The discussion must be meaningful, rather than just a simple recount of the results shown in tables and figures. It should also state the implications of the research findings.

  • Conclusion. This section provides answers to the research objectives and is not a summary of the results. Recommendations are optional and should be located in the conclusion chapter, separated by a paragraph. Recommendations may include suggestions for program implementation and future research that should be conducted in relation to the research findings or the author's conclusions.

REFERENCES AND CITATIONS

The references should only contain literature cited within the article. Use recent literature (from the last 10 years), with a primary reference ratio of over 80%. The number of references should be between 10 and 20, and no more than 30. References should be formatted according to the Harvard system, which includes names and years arranged alphabetically by the author's name. List a maximum of 10 authors' names. If there are more than 10 authors, list the first 10 names and use "et al." to indicate the rest.

When citing within the article, there is a difference in placement at the beginning or end of a sentence. If there is only one author, the correct citation format for Wirawanti's work in 2023 would be “Wirawanti (2023)” or “(Wirawanti 2023).” For two authors, “Wirawanti and Fatimah (2023)” or “(Wirawanti & Fatimah 2023)” can be cited. If there are more than two authors, “Wirawanti et al. (2023)” or “(Wirawanti et al. 2023)” should be used. Please use citation and bibliography management applications such as Zotero, EndNote, or Mendeley.
